Chapter Chair: Brian Pearson, CIO, Stacked Restaurants

Brian Pearson serves as the CIO for Stacked Restaurants, LLC.  He is responsible for the computing and communications infrastructure for the chain, as well as helping to design and implement one of the first fully integrated customer service and sales solutions for the Casual Dining industry.  He serves on a variety of advisory boards both in and out of the hospitality industry, including Hospitality Magazine’s Editorial Advisory Board and HotSchedules Advisory Board.

Pearson’s operational background enables him to engineer holistic scalable infrastructure systems for growth companies that achieve strategic goals, while maintaing service of the operations groups.  Pearson has transitioned companies from weekly reporting in critical areas of sales reporting, labor and KPI’s to real-time solutions.  This innovation has increased productivity, cash flow and enabled more fact-based decisions for all levels of the companies he has served.

Prior to becoming the CIO for Stacked Restaurants, Mr. Pearson held IT leadership positions with BJ’s Restaurants, Inc, Ruby’s Diner, and Sylvan Learning Centers.  Other notable engagements include The Cheesecake Factory and both Chart House Restaurants, and Island’s Restaurants as a restaurant operator.

Brian lives in Orange County, CA with his wife Sharon, his Kindle, and five children.

Chapter Vice Chair: Kathy Sy, Director of IT, Polly’s Inc

Kathy is the Director of Information Technology for Polly’s Inc, which operates Polly’s Pies Restaurants and KFCs of Polly’s. Her ultimate purpose is to help create efficiency through technology, and implementing new technology to assist with sales increase and company growth.

Her experience in the restaurant industry is approaching 30 years: in both quick-service, as well as in full-service restaurants. 12 years in restaurant operations, and 17 years in Restaurant IT. The combination of her operational and technical knowledge definitely helps her accomplish IT projects for restaurants; thinking with both the operators and technologist in mind.

With the growing needs of the economy and the needs of our restaurant’s guests, Kathy often enjoys learning about and looks forward to implementing new technologies that will benefit us in the restaurant industry.

Kathy enjoys the cold weather and snow, which probably doesn’t make sense since she grew up in Hawaii. Although she loves living in Southern California, Hawaii will always be the place where she calls home. Aloha!
